Picture yourself on a long balcony, perched high over a tropical ravine. Imagine pathways clinging to a hillside where the hibiscus and frangipani reach out over statues and wood carvings to touch a gentle greeting as you pass.

Butterflies, birdsong, fragrant blossoms, colorful plumage, night songs of frogs and blinking fireflies interwoven with secluded villas and bungalows extend into a world of exuberant Balinese culture and nature.

Picture yourself thus, and you might just feel the first light brush stroke of the spirit that is Hotel Tjampuhan.

In this one hotel are captured all the images of Ubud, the cultural center of Bali.

The elegance of Balinese architecture and hospitality flourish at Hotel Tjampuhan, located just west of Ubud. Here, Prince Tjokorda Gde Agung Sukawati and Walter Spies began Pita Maha in 1934, an association that brought Ubud painting and artistic talent into the forefront of world art. Spies house, the original guest house of the Ubud royal family, hosted this historic meeting and is here still, on the hotel’s grounds, overlooking the banks of the sacred Oos Campuhan river. Hotel Tjampuhan and Spa remains a source of inspired artistic activity since its founding in the heyday of the 1928′s world traveling.

Unsurprisingly, this setting also inspired Bali visionary holy man Resi Markandya to build the mother temple complex Besakih, the center or worship and ceremony for all of Bali. You can be witness to the living spirit of Balinese devotion to Gods and ancestors, symbolized in the daily offerings made of rice, fruit, flowers and incense in the resident Tjampuhan temple.

Facilities
On the banks of the Oos Campuhan river, the new Tjampuhan SPA is set for you. The inspired hidden cave setting is carved all over with a combination of the surrounding valley’s tropical foliage and the abundant earthly spirits. There is a steam room, Sauna, Jacuzzi and cool water bath. The entire structure is clearly hidden within the hotel’s grounds. Enjoy an open-air massage at the edge of the banks of the Oos Campuhan river.

Other Facilities
Plunge into the cool waters of a pool hewn out of the rock face, and surface to see your Room boy heading down with breakfast.

Cast your mind back to fifty years before, when Walter Spies founded and artist colony and constructed the first dwellings in this divine place. Then understand why the bungalows tucked into the forest around you have a picture book quality that only time can build. The hearth of the Tjampuhan Hotel is the former home of Walter Spies, offering comfort and seclusion with excellent facilities, supplemented by a chioce of air-conditioned or fan cooled rooms.

Our “RAJA” rooms are larger than “AGUNG” rooms both type of rooms are using the bamboo and antique wood carving furniture. All rooms have private bath with hot & cold shower, sailing fan / AC in the room, large veranda.

Return the smile of a waiters as she glides under the vaulted ceilings of a Restaurant seemingly floating on a cascade of lily ponds. Hope on the Hotel’s free shuttle bus visit Ubud’s many shops and galleries of modern and traditional Balinese paintings or take in a dance and drama performance. Experience the delight of a culture intent upon the beautiful and divine. Back at the hotel, sample delicious international and Balinese cuisine at the terrace restaurant and bar. Relax in the library and swim in one of the two spring-fed pools. Restaurant, located near the lobby, is open until 10 AM and Bar until 12 PM.

Afternoon coffee break, for group upon request, Gala royal dinner, venue : Puri Saren Agung, upon request. Sister Hotel bridge cafe for special Balinese cuisine. Balinese dance’s every evening at Puri Saren Agung. Rafting at Ayung river. Two natural swimming pool, sightseeing Tours, taxi available. Car, Bicycle, Motor Bike for rent. Exhibition or meeting room with 40 pax capacity. From the breathing views in villas and pavilions to the smiling and attentive all Balinese staff. Hotel Tjampuhan gracefully invites your participation in the royal way of hospitality.

If today you are in Bali, your traveling is not complete if you haven’t tried everything related about Bali. One thing to try is the original Balinese dishes such as bebek / ayam betutu (duck / chicken with Balinese spices), babi guling (suckling pig), lawar and other dishes. In this article we will share information about food and places to buy it.

Bebek / Ayam Betutu Bali (duck / chicken with Balinese spices)
Ayam Betutu is one of the favorite foods of Bali peoples. Besides of good taste, this cuisine is also easy to buy. Now many Balinese restaurants that provide these menu. Fresh chicken meal mixed with some Balinese spices such as laos, jahe, bawang merah, bawang putih, daun salam, kunir, kencur, daun salam, cabai merah dan cabai rawit.

All the ingredients are then inserted into the stomach of the duck or chicken. There are several ways to cook this dishes, the first way is after the chicken flavored then boiled in a pot until the water evaporated and left only a few. The second way and perhaps a complicated way that the duck / chicken wrapped with a sheath-nut, then wrapped with banana leaves. Then planted in the ground and burned for a few hours until done. This dishes can be eaten as a lunch or dinner menu during holiday in Bali paradise island.

And the barbecue of the pig which it cannot miss in a festival and a ceremony of the Balinese, is “Babi Guling”. These two dish is food of Bali necessary for Balinese.
Ngelawang is a sacred dance that must be conducted to exorcize evil spirits and danger, so that human life will be safer and peaceful. Old literature tells that Goddess Uma was cursed by Bhatara Guru to fall down to the world and became Goddess Durga, spreading diseases and natural disasters to human life. “Nglawang” was taken from the word “lawang” (door). In Balinese language, it means the show or performance that move from one house to another house, or from one village to another village. It is usually performed in a series of Galungan and Kuningan holiday as an embodiment of dharma’s (kindness) victory in its fight against adharma (badness). This tradition is usually perfomed on one day after Galungan day or Kuningan day.

Ngelawang procession is usually conducted by carrying “sesuhunan” around the village, such as barong, rangda, pratima, barong kedengkling and another equipment depends on local custom. This tradition is inherited from generation to generation and now is carried by a group of children. They come to the villagers houses one by one. This show is performed in about 10 – 15 minutes in front of the door and believed that it will give holiness vibration to each house, so that the people will be prevented from the disease and danger. Barong is danced by the dancers and accompanied by the music rhythm from kentongan (bamboo drum) ortabuh bleganjur (traditional music instrument).
